Common questions in the lesson about drone registration are about foreign registration. Both registering a U.S. drone to fly in a foreign country and registering a foreign drone to fly in the U.S.

Registering a foreign drone to fly in the U.S.

Drones registered in a foreign country are prohibited from registering in the U.S. to fly under Part 107. If someone wants to use that drone for commercial purposes, they'll have to apply under a different provision in the Department of Transportation (Economic Authority).

Any foreigners wishing to fly a drone for fun only in the U.S. just need to register their drone in the FAADroneZone under the Recreational Flyer Exception and also take the TRUST recreational flyer test.

So if you see a test question that says something like, foreign drones need to be registered to fly in the U.S., remember, this question is strictly asking about Part 107 operations. And in that case, foreign drones are prohibited from registering. So the answer would be no.

You've registered your drone in the U.S. and want to go fly in a foreign country, either for recreational purposes or business. You're going to have to look up the drone laws for the particular country you're visiting. They vary from country to country.
