You might notice that your displayed ISO is "stuck" at a high number when using Auto ISO. For example, with settings like Default 125, Max 6400, and Min. Shutter Auto, the ISO value shown in the viewfinder or on the rear LCD seems “stuck” at 6400, even in bright light.
This is a common question (and frustration) for Fujifilm users.
What’s happening is that the number displayed next to your Auto ISO setting (A1, A2, or A3) isn’t your current ISO — it’s your programmed maximum ISO. That’s just how Fujifilm displays Auto ISO information in standby mode.
Once you engage exposure lock — either by half-pressing the shutter button or pressing the AEL button — the display will update to show the current calculated ISO that the camera is actually using for that scene.
So in short:
-
Before half-pressing → the camera shows the max ISO for your Auto ISO setting
-
After half-pressing (or AEL) → the camera shows the active ISO being used for the exposure
